About Imperium
Short description
Imperium is a single-player 4X space strategy game about building a civilization among the stars. Begin with one colony and a single home star, then expand across a galaxy of alien worlds - researching exotic science, designing your own fleets, and bending rival empires to your will through diplomacy or open war. Every game generates a new galaxy, a new balance of power, and a new empire to call your own.
Long description
Imperium is a single-player 4X space strategy game about turning one homeworld into a galactic power. Every campaign creates a new network of stars, worlds and rival empires. The route you chart, the colonies you build and the relationships you forge determine what kind of empire you become.
Explore and expand
Move through a three-dimensional galaxy linked by starlanes. Discover new systems, settle planets, moons and asteroids, and decide which frontiers are worth the cost of reaching. Unearth ancient ruins and terraform hostile worlds as your empire grows.
Build worlds that serve your strategy
Develop colonies tile by tile with industry, research, food, defenses and orbital installations. Connect structures into productive worlds, or appoint Governors to manage colonies while you focus on the wider galaxy.
Engineer your own fleets
Design ships across five hull classes. Choose their drives, power, sensors, defenses and weapons component by component, then put your designs to work in tactical battles. A fleet's strength comes from the choices behind it, not just the number of ships you build.
Rule by influence or force
Encounter 21 playable species with different strengths, personalities and ambitions. Invest influence in diplomacy, governance and espionage; establish embassies, negotiate agreements and alliances, gather intelligence, or demand reparations after war. Win support in the Galactic Senate to become Premier, or claim the throne as Emperor and face the consequences.
Find your path to victory
Conquer rival homeworlds, dominate territory, secure a lasting peace or take power through the Senate. With six victory paths and a new balance of power in every galaxy, your next empire need not resemble your last.
Key features
- Procedurally generated galaxies, from a dozen systems to well over a hundred.
- Planets, moons and asteroids to settle, each with a surface you develop tile by tile, and more than 50 surface structures and orbital installations to build.
- Terraform hostile worlds, uncover ancient ruins, and hand any colony to a Governor to run itself.
- Warships engineered from the keel up across five hull classes, from more than 80 components.
- A tech tree of 68 technologies, out to gravity manipulation and frequency-based weaponry.
- 21 playable species, each with its own homeworld, fleet aesthetic, soundtrack and signature ability.
- Diplomacy run as an economy of influence: embassies, espionage, pacts, trade and research agreements, alliances, wars and reparations. AI empires scheme, expand and fight each other in character, not just against you.
- Six ways to win: military elimination, territorial supremacy, conquest of every home star, a galaxy-wide peace, Senate Premier or Emperor.

How Imperium is made
Imperium is one developer's game, made with generative AI tools under his creative direction. The art was generated with Midjourney and ChatGPT, then extensively hand-edited by Daniel in Photoshop. The music was made with Suno, the sound effects with ElevenLabs, and the code is written with Claude, with Daniel designing and directing. The rival empires run on purpose-built algorithmic AI, not a generative model, and nothing in the game is generated while you play.
